PROGRAM OVERVIEW 

Reflection of Us is Son of a Dream's out-of-school time enrichment program that uses media to offer a unique youth development experience for children and youth ages 9-13. Our entry-level media curriculum consists of workshop instruction, project-based learning, and technical media training. Using the Nguzo Saba (Kwanzaa principles), Reflection of Us teaches youth how to use media to learn culturally relevant life skills, explore important topics to their community, and connect with change agents making a positive impact.

Program Goals:

 

1) Goal: To build participants’ competency on Nguzo Saba principles and application for community empowerment.

 

2) Goal: To build participants’ competency and skill set in media production.

​

3) Goal: To increase participants' engagement with role models who are making a positive impact in their community.

4) Goal:  Participants will produce multimedia projects on topics important to their community.
